summer congregation
I said I'd write more poems about my friends...so here's an ode to all the amazing women in my life, you know who you are.

Why is it, each time the sun returns I only think of you? thoughts stick —like moistened strands our hair a golden cloak In summer’s grass we lie as one in knots of flowers blue my fear, like butter, melts spread soft against your love my fairy girls you reach In me lost glee, and nurse it back your laughs, like silk, shield firm from grief —protect my eyes It seems whispered, your summer tales help me forget, the freeze the dark hum of winter each year pulls me under my screams trapped mute beneath ice flats —Just time can bring me back So when sun returns At last I hear your songs of love sisters of the chapel, meld into a choir break free of fright I run all night to join you all the summer congregation.
If "summer congregation" resonated with you, I hope it brought to mind the incredible women who brighten your world.
I’d love to know, what do you think makes female friendships so special, so powerful? What's one memory that perfectly captures that magic for you?
as always, have a wonderful day,
Jas
